Upon first glance at the XS R3D Night Sight, I was struck by its compact and robust design. Its unassuming exterior belied the advanced technology packed within. 

The glow dot, available in vivid orange or green, commanded attention and promised high visibility, even in low light. A sense of anticipation welled within me as I envisioned the XS R3D’s capabilities on the field.

My Testing

My Testing 

When I tested the Photoluminescent Glow Dot, I found it to be an impressive feature. The dot was highly visible in both bright and low-light conditions, providing a high-contrast sight picture that was easy to see. In dim light, the Glow Dot glowed effectively, illuminating the front sight and making it easily distinguishable from the rear sight.

3. Blacked-Out Rear Sight

The Blacked-Out Rear Sight feature is a design choice that complements the brightly lit front sight. Making the rear sight black allows for increased focus on the front sight. The contrast between the black rear sight and the glowing front sight makes target acquisition faster and more accurate.

My Testing 

In my testing, the blacked-out rear sight contributed to a faster focus on the front sight. The contrast between the glowing front sight and the black rear sight helped me align the sights faster, which improved my shooting accuracy and speed. 

The rear sight ledge was also helpful, especially when testing one-handed slide manipulations.

My Testing

5. High-Contrast Sight Picture

The High-Contrast Sight Picture feature is an advantage of the combined effects of the 

self-illuminating Tritium and the photoluminescent Glow Dot. The bright, glowing front sight contrasts sharply with the blacked-out rear sight, creating a sight picture that is easy to pick up and focus on. 

My Testing

My testing confirmed that the high-contrast sight picture greatly enhances target acquisition. The front sight was easy to spot and focus on due to its bright illumination and contrasting color against the blacked-out rear sight.
